Umfeld on Omarchy in Less Than 10 Minutes
somebody told me about Omarchy ( a Beautiful, Modern & Opinionated Linux by DHH ) the other day. and i must say i am REALLY intrigued by the keyboard-focused UI.
on a sidenote DHH has been bragging about how quickly you can install and run it. so i gave it try and i must say that Omarchy REALLY delivered:
objective :: run an Umfeld example application on Omarchy.
question :: how long does it take? and is it pain-free?
result :: i managed to get am Umfeld application up and running in less than 10min(!). and extra credit because i installed Omarchy on an external SSD ( which is often a pain with other OSes ).
disclaimer :: i had the Omarchy image already downloaded and burned onto a USB-Stick before i started measuring. but still 10min is GREAT!
BTW if you like keyboard interactions, if you are tired of Windows or macOS ( <- jarrgh i am looking at you round corners in Preview.app image rending … i know you can default write it away … but common designers at Apple ), and if you are interested in maybe finally making The Switch … this might be the one.
